2013: The Year in Review

Last year was certainly a busy one for the Family Financial team! As we look back on 2013 and all that happened between January and December, we’re extremely thankful for our client-families–those of you who make it possible for us to do what we love. Some of our favorite memories from the past year are the fun social events we hosted that allowed us to get to know you better. Here’s a look back at some of the fun we had in 2013.
February: Wild Thyme Dinner Party

To kick of the year, we hosted our annual dinner party at Wild Thyme Cooking School. Thanks to Chef and Owner Alison Davis, we enjoyed a delicious meal (topped off with the most amazing bourbon bread pudding!) and learned some helpful cooking techniques to take back to our own kitchens. All of our guests went home happy and full, with an FFP apron in hand!

March: A Day at Elk Creek
Some of our client-families who appreciate the great outdoors joined us for a day at Elk Creek Hunt Club. Guests showed of their shooting skills (or lack thereof!), and enjoyed great company.

April: Opening Night with the Lexington Legends
Families joined us as we gathered at Budweiser Stables to watch the Legends’ season opener. We enjoyed a buffet of hamburgers and barbeque, and had fun soaking up America’s Favorite Pastime. The best part, though? The fireworks show that ended the night!

May, June & July: Lessons with a Pro
Some of our clients who love to hit the links joined our team at Andover Golf & Country Club for lessons with golf pro, Wes Jackson. During each session, guests would have one-on-one instruction with Wes, and then get the chance to watch a video analysis of their swings over drinks and appetizers. Needless to say, laughs (often at the expense of others) were not uncommon!

August: A Good Walk Spoiled
Our non-profit organization, the Family Financial Foundation, successfully hosted the second annual “A Good Walk Spoiled” charity golf scramble. The day was one filled with friendly competition, as teams played to be named the 2013 champions. In the evening, guests were treated to a steak dinner, live and silent auctions, and dancing. This year’s event raised nearly $20,000 for local charities that help Kentucky families.

November: Tax Professional Training Day

More than 40 local tax professionals attended the 2013 Tax Professional Training Day at Buffalo Trace Distillery. The event included engaging speakers who presented on topics such as healthcare, estate planning and ethics. After a day of continuing education, attendees were able to take advantage of the location and enjoy a distillery tour and tasting.

November: Wine and Food Pairing
We welcomed nearly 50 clients to Andover Golf and Country Club for our annual wine and food pairing, led by wine expert Dr. Jerry Seebach. Guests enjoyed seven courses of delicious, chef-prepared cuisine professionally paired with wines from around the world.

December: Christmas Open House
The FFP team opened our office and invited client-families in for some holiday cheer! Guests toured the office and enjoyed holiday drinks and hors d’oeuvres to the sounds of our favorite Christmas tunes.

As we look back on 2013, we believe it was a year well spent. Thanks to all of our client-families who attended the year’s events. We hope you’ll stay tuned to find out what we have in store for 2014!
