David Smyth

David E. Smyth is a Senior Partner and Wealth Advisor of Family Financial Partners, Inc. – a financial services firm in Lexington, Kentucky.

David and his management team provide financial solutions and investment services to clients in 36 states.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in media communications from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. He began his career in financial services in 1998 with Capital Advisors Group. Later, he joined Interactive Planning Corp. and IPC Financial as a partner in 2003. In 2005, he founded Family Financial Partners.

A Seattle native, David spends most of his free time with his sons, Gates, Ridley, and Michael; his stepsons, Jacob and Zack; and his beautiful bride, Kerri. David and Kerri share a passion for fitness, golf, wine, sports, and traveling the world while chasing sunrises and sunsets. The Smyths love trips to the beach and can often be found at the beach in St. Augustine, Florida.

Through the Family Financial Foundation, which he and fellow Senior Partner Alex Roig founded in 2010, David actively supports many local charities. Since its inception, the foundation has been proud to support organizations that help Kentucky families including The Nest, LexCare, Lexington Dream Factory, Christian Appalachian Project, and Jarrett’s Joy Cart.

In addition, David is a member of Boones Trace Golf Club and Greenbrier Golf and Country Club. David enjoys attending Crossroads Church, where he actively serves at wilderness camps for men, fathers, and sons.

Lastly, as a passionate fan of the Seattle Seahawks, David wants everyone to know that it’s tough living in a household of Bengals and Chargers fans.

Is your life insurance policy growing with you?

September is Life Insurance Month. It also happens to be one month after all of us here at Family Financial Partners celebrated our 20th year in business. And speaking of 20 years, yours truly recently got a letter in the mail from FFP letting me know that one of my 20-year term policies is expiring. Getting a letter from my own office is a funny thing; at first, I smiled because it meant our processes are working. Then that smile faded when I realized that I had bought that policy right after the birth of my first child — he turns 21 this spring!
