Your perfect retirement comes down to one main factor

We discuss many finance topics around here, but they all revolve around the overarching question: How do you retire comfortably? Saving money and investing are both about retirement. Even home ownership, insurance, and legacy planning are ultimately about building and maintaining a healthy nest egg for a comfortable retirement.

Do a quick Google search about how to retire comfortably, and you’ll find any number of articles with the top five or ten steps to retirement. These often have good information — the same stuff many financial advisors will cover with you when it comes time to retire.

But there’s one main bullet point to consider: Have enough money. If you don’t have enough money, achieving a financially stress-free retirement can be challenging.

That’s generally what people obsess about in the 24 months before they retire. As they get closer, the natural thing for every client and prospect family we’ve ever talked to is to get bogged down in the details. When should I take Social Security? How am I going to create a retirement income? What do I do about health insurance if I’m under 65? What if my spouse and I are different ages but want to retire simultaneously? What if we want to retire but still have kids in college or in the house?

All of these questions are understandable, which is why we created the My Best Retirement workbook. It’s completely free and will give you a great idea of how you’re doing in your pre-retirement. It’s designed to get you focused. From there, we enter the conversation to work with you to plug any holes in the dam. We’ll address areas that could become an issue and could sabotage your plan to have enough money when every day is a Saturday.

If you’re already pulling your financial documents together, this is a perfect time to use that workbook and see where you are and whether you’re ready to talk to somebody.

Don’t let anybody tell you that they have tricks or shortcuts. A stress-free retirement is often about having enough money. Let us help you build a plan to work toward reaching that goal. Download the My Best Retirement workbook or contact us today.
